The Sunday Post: Get To Know Me

When I created my first blog way, way back before Nueyork and before I ever wore makeup, I was much bolder and out there with who I was. It was basically a lifestyle blog with pictures of me and what I was doing, which has since been deleted in a fit of embarrassment. In staring Nueyork I was aiming for an anonymous blog from the get go. I had this acute fear that someone I know might find it and even to this day, no one in my personal life really knows about my blog.

Mauve Addiction

As a reformed blush-phobe I have never really had the chance to get into the deeper, mauve-toned blushes you see making their circulation every time winter rolls around - until this year. When the Max Factor Creme Puff blushes launched here in Australia, the stalls seemed to be forever cleared of them, which was no surprise to me as they seem to be everywhere in the blogging world lately, but I finally managed to get my hands on 'Lavish Mauve', the shade I'd been hunting for.

A Happy Accident

When I reached for this powder, everything from the packaging to the glistening dome telltale of baked products made me expect a Mineralized Skin Finish dupe - but what I found was even better. The Models Prefer Mineral Powder in 'Soft Focus' is definitely designed to give a glow to the skin, but not in a way that you have to apply it sparingly or you'll look like a disco ball. This is more of a finishing powder that you can dust where you wish to get that natural, lit from within glow that we all try to replicate.

The Fix for Essie Fiji

Essie's Fiji is famous for good reason, a beautiful, milky pink that just looks lovely on the nails. It's also notorious for being streaky and extremely difficult to apply. For me it takes around three very thick coats for it too look semi-decent and even then it chips or peels off within a day or two. It's just an unpleasant experience that I keep putting myself through because I love the shade so, so much - it seems like everyone else puts up with it as well!

Camomile Cleanser

I feel like I am always so late to the bandwagon! The Body Shop's Camomile Cleanser is something that has been raved about for such a long time now, but with my Garnier micellar water addiction I was only ever tempted to buy it just recently. While I absolutely adore my micellar water, sometimes it just isn't enough or I cannot be bothered with getting out the cotton pads and just want to slater on a cleanser, rinse and be done with it.

I mentioned briefly awhile ago that I would be participating in a semester-long exchange program, but now that everything is all booked and confirmed, I finally feel ready to talk about it. I have an acute fear of sharing big news like this before it's 99.9% confirmed, just incase it falls through, but at this stage it's definitely 99.9%. I will be leaving Australia in mid-August to start the Fall semester in Paris!

The Chocolate Bar Palette

Naturally, as a complete chocolate fiend, the chocolate bar palette has been on my radar since it's release. My amazing sister got me a Mecca Cosmetica voucher for my birthday and I finally let myself pick it up. When I got back into my car I hurriedly, but oh-so delicately, unboxed it and I swear I heard the angels sing as I took in that cocoa scent!

The Sunday Post: Winter Warmers

Today I bought my first high quality camera and I couldn't be more excited! I have been procrastinating exam study majorly by researching compact cameras that don't suffer in the quality department and finally settled on the Canon EOS M. After blogging with my iPhone camera for almost a year and a half now, the change in quality is incredible. I procrastinated even more exam study by trying to learn the ropes today.

Twilight

While this has to be one of LUSH's most popular products and probably speaks for itself by now, I couldn't help but add more to the countless positive reviews behind the Twilight bath bomb. For a long, long time I didn't give into the LUSH hype. I felt like paying $6 to make your bath look pretty was putting money down the drain (literally) and just didn't see myself buying them. However, for my birthday I was gifted a couple of their bath products and was excited to be able to try them!

21 Things

Yesterday I turned 21! This is something I've almost been dreading, but in another way it is quite exciting - I guess. Progressing through my twenties is something I think about a lot, but I really am just at the beginning and need to stop worrying so much about it. I had an amazing birth-weekend, full of everything and everyone that I love the most. Birthdays always seem to be a very reflective time, so I decided to compile a list of 21 things I have learnt in my 21 years...
