The Review: Benefit's Dandelion Boxed Powder

Benefit's Dandelion boxed powder is a product that left me confused. I have always thought of it as a blush and this is largely how it was portrayed in the beauty community, so when I bought it for myself I used it in this way. However, on the box it says it's a "brightening face powder" which is what got me thinking.

As a blush Dandelion is by no means a pop of colour. It's a subtle, rosy pink that leaves natural colour to the cheeks with an added sparkle. It's beautiful and the product that eased me into wearing blush. It was a lot like bright lipsticks, I wasn't sure how much was too much and I didn't want to look too "done up" on a daily basis - but I know now that isn't the case at all! This really is great for beginners or just anyone who enjoys the colour it gives off. Applied very lightly to the tops of the cheeks it just adds something to face.

This is a product I love and I cannot image my makeup bag without it, but I'm also not sure how readily I would repurchase it. In terms of value for money, it doesn't do a lot. It's by no means a perfect formulation full of strong pigmentation with amazing results. However, it is a product that is almost sentimental to me as it was my first high-end purchase - a bit of a weird one, hey?

If you own this I'd love to know how you use it!

  2. I have Rockateur, but Dandelion was second on my list! Might have to check this out soon! The formulation isn't my favorite, but they're still soft and subtle and I can appreciate that. Great review!

  3. I like Dandelion, but I think that it was a bit... well... not really worth it for what it ended up being. However, I do love the shade, and how it's so subtle!

  4. This is gorgeous! I love Benefit products as their pigments are really rich and a little goes a long way.

What I tend to do is apply 'Hoola' Benefits bronzer on my cheekbones and then this on the apples of the cheeks blending it slightly….it gives skin a warm rosy glow which I love! :)

  6. I agree completely. Now that I have it, I do really like it, but I doubt I will repurchase it once I'm finished.

  7. It is super natural which is what I love about it because blush can sometimes be a bit too much if you're having a natural makeup day. Rockateur is such a stunning colour, but I'm not a huge fan of shimmer, so I've been looking for the colour in a matte formulation.

  8. It's beautiful shade, but definitely on the subtle side!

  12. I've had it for a few years now and use so lightly as it is very brash when heavily applied

  13. Ha, it's weird you say you can't imagine your makeup bag without it but wouldnt repurchase it! To be honest, I'm not a fan of that type of benefit packaging cardboard packaging.

  16. I've been looking for a similar product and am so glad you recommended this. I bought a MAC blush recently that truly disappointed me - the colour it left on my cheeks was totally unnatural. Will definitely invest in Dandelion - it seems like the perfect pick-me-up for cool Autumn days. Xo

  19. I guess it's just because the price point where I live is incredibly high, perhaps for the US price point I would repurchase, but for $50 I feel like I could get a product that truly does go above and beyond. I do love Dandelion for what it is, however.

  20. I totally get this, I don't necessarily need to go "lightly" but if I try to build it up it doesn't look the best.

  27. Oh, I was given this lovely blush tester (I call it a blush still, even though it isn't branded like that) by a good friend of mine and since the first day I tried it, I didn't want to use anything else, I just felt head over heels for it. I use it just as a blush on sides of my upper cheeks, I found that it looks the best like that. It works so great for me because of my super fair skin and because I wasn't really saving it up, therefore, it's almost gone. Anyway, I love this little guy to bits and just really want to get a big version already though I find it quite expensive for a blush. Maybe you've come across something similar, but at a lesser price? Take care! Your blog is super super lovely. ♥
